sounds delicious I can nearly smell it! I had passiflora tea ages ago if I can remember anything it had a very soft sweet taste! I wonāt lie, I got used to it but valerian extract will never be my fave ice cream flavourā¦
Snap itās a very unique taste but you do get accustomed to it quite quickly.
Thatās very true! And Iām liking my pink pod better than the blue, couldnāt finish that one soon enough!
Thank you so much to everyone involved in the creation of sofi! Iāve been having a terrible year, that involved getting sick, and family getting sick; not at all what I planned haha but I canāt thank you enough as Sofi has become the best part of this terrible year. My sleep has improved so much and thatās all thanks to you.
Thank you for bein so amazing and for giving me and everyone else here a better life
Iām so sorry to hear that youāve had a trying year so far @emmanuellernunes and so thrilled that at least in a small part sofi and this truly exceptional community have a provided a small solace of comfort. Itās a tricky thing health - we do take it for granted till we canāt. So pleased to hear that at least your sleep has improved albeit against a difficult backdrop!
Wow, i canāt wait to receive my pack. Iām so excited to be able to be part of t this. Thank you.
So happy you found our sofi community @adcockp and thrilled to have you here!
Hello Alex,
I have now nearly ran out of the Valerian second issue of pods, about half of the last one left. Please could you tell me if there are any left I could have or do we have to wait for the S2 sofi trial now?
Hello @paul.ashton22,
Really great question and thank you for asking!
One of our most recent learnings with the sofi brain was that consistent journalling when not on the plant allows sofi to learn a really significant baseline against which to listen for effects from the plant.
In other words, a 30 day period of journaling without valerian before moving on to try the S2 is key in understanding how the effects of passiflora might differ / benefit you even more.
We are going to begin with an initial update to the sofi app that will integrate the āsofi scoreā generated by the sofi brain into the app, and encourage all pioneers to start baselining themselves through June - and a full update on this is coming soon.
Thank you so much for being a part of this journey and for being so patient ⦠from the S3 onwards our aim is to test a new plant every 8 weeks, so the wait required between plants will be much less moving forward!
All my pods ended about a week ago
Looking forward to the next stage
Iāve stumbled across your comments re sleep problems, memory loss and the fact that youve been prescribed amitriptyline as well as zopiclone. And your GP sounds pretty unhelpful. Do you mind me asking how old you are? Could it be that you might be perimenopausal?
Iāve just been through a rollercoaster of a ride & found out that Iāve been perimenopausal since age 41 due to adrenal fatigue. Taking HRT has helped me with memory, energy & motivation but sleep still evades me. I realise I ought to work on healing my adrenals. Thatās why Iām excited about Sofiās Ashwagandhaā¦
Hi Minki
Iām not perimenopausal but actually in menopause for past 8 years or so, I will be 60 in May
I have accepted I will be a chronic insomniac for the future. I have tried every single thing from alternatives to drugs.
I canāt take the same sleeping tablet daily as it wonāt work so have to mix things up.
My GP says my memory problems are with lack of sleep and side affects of sleeping tablets which a cause short term memory loss.
Iām willing to try anything new, hence on this program. Yes excited about Ashwagandha.
Iām sorry to hear about the problems you are having and hope things will improve for you.
All the best
Saida
Saida,
Wow, what a journey. I canāt imagine what years of not sleeping properly must do to your system & memory. My partner works shifts & he takes phenergans which are actually an antihistamine. I tried that once & was pretty useless the next day. So can see where youāre coming from re mixing things up.
Iām keeping all my fingers & toes crossed for you that S3 will bring you some relief! Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Hereās to new beginnings & a more natural way of helping people find a sleep balance.
Much love & good hope from Wales
I am adding @pamelaspence into this in case she has come across some helpful experience here . Canāt wait to get the next Pioneer Program wirh Ashwa out. Also adding @alexwalkerjones to make sure your place is secure in the first phase. Wishing you a wonderful and restful Sunday.
Thank you Minki for your lovely message.
Yes I take antihistamines for sleep, Nytol, and a mixture of sleeping tablets which I alternate with Melatonin and Amitriptyline.
Yes we have to keep positive and hope something will work.
All the best to Wales, from Brum

Thanks for the add to this conversation @Kaveh!
Sorry to hear you are having such problems with brain fog etc. And yes i come across this SO much in my clinic.
It is most often caused by adrenal stress (i.e. living a normal modern life!) If you tend to be an anxious person it will compound the situation and during peri-menopause /menopause / post-menopause it can get way worse.
The simple way to think of it is that your adrenals are working overtime just keeping up with life (more if your life is particularly stressful or if you are often anxious). At peri-menopause your ovaries (responsible for ALL oestrogen production up to now) start to retire. Eventually they will stop altogether - thing is, you still need oestrogen for the rest of your life (just not so much). So, it gets made in different sites in the body for the first time. Guess what part of your body picks up part of the job? Your poor overworked adrenals!
So you can find that your anxiety rises, your sleep gets worse, and you start to have brain fog - all related to lack of oestrogen (the new system isnāt up to speed) and your adrenals working even harder than before (cortisol levels are too high for melatonin to be released / too low causing exhaustion).
This situation will not improve unless you support thoae adrenals to do their job! You can do this with drugs (taking HRT replenishes the oestrogen and gives them one less job to do, but one day you will come off that and you would be wise to use the time to support your adrenals so they are ready when that day comesā¦) and / or take herbs and make dietary and lifestyle changes.
Happily, the very next Pioneer programme is my number one herb for this exact situation- Ashwagandha!
Look forward to seeing how it might help. Brain fog takes quite a while to resolve so be patient⦠but other menopausal synptoms may also be resolved along the wayā¦
Hope thatās helpful!
What a great way of explaining things!
Wish more GPs would tell their patients in the same way. I only found out about the whole ovary - adrenal relationship through YouTube videos, not from my surgery.
You deserve a megaphone!!!
Thank you! Glad it was useful!
I have always said that if i could shout something from the rooftops it would be this! I have been teaching it to menopausal groups and patients for a long time⦠perhaps time for some more on this topic on social media!
