You're Fired! Even though we said we want you all

6 months after the new owners took over my position was eliminated. Now the job hunt begins. Not sure if we’ll stay in Indianapolis or move to Florida.

Spent the day applying to jobs, mostly positions related to what I’d been doing for the past 16+ years.

We had been talking about moving to Florida one day. So this just speeds up the timeline. I have had one interview and another is scheduled for Friday.

Find job in Florida
Find temporary place to stay
Sell house in Indianapolis
Buy house in Florida
Move our :poop:

I’ve scoured through hundreds (maybe thousands) of postings and applied to over 80. Had 5 interviews this week. 2 more are already scheduled for next week.

This weekend I’m giving myself a break from searching. Instead I’ll work on my resume to get it into a format that passes through the ATS. I’m working with a staffing agency in Ocala for this. The guy is even sent resources for short term housing.

Best of luck sometimes things happen for a reason to give us a gentle nudge to a better life

I interviewed with a former vendor and was essentially hired on the spot. One of the ladies is retiring at the end of the year so they need someone in right away to be trained. They’ll send the offer letter early in the week. I can haggle if needed. Then we’ll have a week or so to find temporary housing and start the moving process.

Trying to pack (unsuccessfully) while waiting for the quick sale companies to submit their offers. Gotta get a decent price for the :house_with_garden: and :moneybag: in hand before starting the new job on the 5th.

That sounds like a win @BrandNewMe! So happy to hear :raised_hands: :raised_hands:

@BrandNewMe maybe in a crazy roundabout way the universe took away one job to give you a better one. Fingers crossed you go on to be happy there :relaxed::crossed_fingers:

Busy packing still… so difficult for just the two of us sorting through everything. We’re leaving on Friday and there’s so much left to do. Sofi is packed and ready for me to resume the process in Florida.

Didn’t get as much for the :house_with_garden: as expected so that’ll limit our options to buy. We do have a rental in Cocoa but no move in date yet. The current tenant hasn’t left.

A lot of information to absorb at the new job. I don’t know how much will be retained until I have at least a computer (no desk yet either) so I can actually do something. It’s kinda boring just observing.

Monday afternoon I finally received word on our move in date… not until the 16th! This week I’ve been staying at our timeshare. It’s 1-1.5 hours to drive to work but 2+ hours to drive home. At the end of the day I’m hungry, tired, and blinded by the headlights at night… this isn’t a good combination.
