Not getting a petal after journaling

So I went to do my journal this morning like always and it made me do it twice.
After doing it both times I didn’t get the petal for my pod.

I always have my Bluetooth off when not in use (to save battery and I’m also paranoid :joy:)
Do I need to have Bluetooth on and the stick registering with the app to do the journal? Or is it me messing something else up?

I had to uninstall the app then reinstall it it seems to work now. I have 2 petals although having used it 3 days. And it doesn’t seem to register the right amount of sprays. I think these are things the tech experts are trying to iron out.:slightly_smiling_face:

The Bluetooth needs to be always on @lrakarid … it’s the data bridge between the sofi stick and the sofi app … without the bridge and connection it won’t know that you have sprayed … do you see the app showing a countdown from /70 below your formulation when you spray? That’s another way to know the two are synced

We are working on it …. @Kirill and @alexwalkerjones … will try to share updates on bugs we are working on in a channel as well so you know if it’s something in progress … would that be helpful @Eevie ?

Yes, it would be good for others who have the same problems. I have managed to journal on 2 days now, with petals, but it’s still not registering correct number of sprays. Reinstalling the app was key to it working. But I guess this is what the trial is about, getting all the tech and info to align.

I had the Bluetooth on when I sprayed yesterday and that all went fine.
I just wasn’t sure if you needed it for doing the journal. I’ll try again tomorrow with Bluetooth on this time.

@Eevie thanks. I’ll give that a try as well

You need the Bluetooth on all the time as it is the data bridge between the sofi stick and the Siri app and systems and brain … without it the data is generated and simply sits on your sofi stick … which in the current build is not great as the system is still in its infancy and simply just then shares count data of all presses when your sofi stick pairs again rather than when the actual press happened. We are going to address this in future builds but to have an accurate journal for S1 important to have your Bluetooth on and your app open so you see the formulation counting down for each press. Hope that makes sense.

Oh yea that makes total sense. I do have the Bluetooth on for the sprays and the app open anyways. Just didn’t Gabe it on for the journal part. I’ll try the Bluetooth on for tomorrows journal and see if that works better

The literature suggests that we can take three to four sprays for each session and two sessions per day one after dinner and one before sleep. So in effect three/four sprays after dinner and three/four sprays before bed. On a given day I am taking somewhere between six to eight sprays in total. That’s why each valerian formulation bottle should last on average ten days or so. Hope that’s helpful @malone.shelley

I don’t even have Bluetooth and have experience no problems so I doubt it is that causing the problems?

Hi @oliver75gaskell - welcome to the sofi community and thrilled to have you here! I love the idea of no bluetooth, no problems, unfortunately the sofi stick and sofi app do require bluetooth capabilities on your phone.

We would love to have your participation in our upcoming Program, the S3, if there is any phone you may have access to on a regular basis that does support bluetooth.

I have been an idiot! I have full Bluetooth connectivity and capabilities on my phone! Sorry for the mix-up :man_facepalming:

Hahah @oliver75gaskell well that’s certainly a relief to here! Happy journaling

Sprays are counting ok but journal petals have gone back to 1 when i think it should be 4 now. Bluetooth is / was on. Flower outline colour has changed also. What should i do to try to correct this?
Sofi score has also gone down in spite of journalling at same time every day for weeks, but im less bothered by that than the missing journal days while on pod 1 of the Passiflora.

I should have added @Kaveh or @alexwalkerjones …have you got my 4 days of Passiflora no.1 journal, even though 3 days/petals have gone missing on my screen? If you have thats more important than what i can see, and i guess i will carry on until pod 1 is empty then move to pod 2.
It may be coincidence but i do feel that i am already sleeping a little better on the pods, and i am aware of dreaming more.
Ignore my comments on the sofi score, it is back to the more usual 78 after going up to 100 and down to 59. I remember you saying that this score can fluctuate in spite of very regular journalling ( i set an alarm to do the same time every day).
I only want to be reassured that you have my journal info since i started on the first pod because this will be important for your analysis of any changes from baseline. Many thanks, Mudlark :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @drmudlark, yes! Thankfully, we have all your journals safe and sound. From what I can tell via our system, you were stuck on “valerian” in the app, as opposed to passiflora. That likely updated automatically for you which explains the missing petals and colour change, as you’re now on the right Program.

If you can recall where you got up to, feel free to just do your best to adhere to 10 days with each formulations and so sorry any confusion with the random shift!

Hi @alexwalkerjones , thank you for your reply. I dont recall ever seeing Valerian mentioned and the Passionflower pic was always on my screen, so perhaps this was a glitch of some sort.

The main thing is that you have the data, so i am glad to hear that.
The spray count so far is working well (just done the 3 after dinner) so if that continues i will know when i have done the 10 days and i will anyway make a note now of the day i started.
While i am here, is there any way i can look back at my months of pre-pod journalling? I can only see back 7 days and cant see any way to look at more. I would be interested to see if there was a seasonal/ daylight hours difference going through Spring and Summer.
I used to think that thin curtains had no effect on my sleep but about 2 weeks ago i started to wear a 3D sleep mask (I never liked the feel of the flat masks against my eyelids) and i think that now i am not waking up so many times after the sun is up, or if i do i can get back to sleep more easily.
I have also wondered if this kind of information about other things we use might be useful to your analysis. I deliberately didnt try any herbal supplements while doing my baseline journal so as not to confound the data. More fool me probably as OTC supplements like Nytol or Kalms can perhaps help a little. I see that some pioneers take other things like melatonin or 5-HTP for example or prescription meds. Would it not help your analysis to know if we are trying other sleep aids and when we started or stopped them?
I am fascinated by how Sofi analysis can deal with all the unknown variables! ‘Many Complex and Interacting’ comes to mind!

Hmm, that is really helpful and interesting @drmudlark - I will check back with our dev team to see what may exactly happened!

While we don’t currently have a way to view historical journey entries / sleep data within the app, this is something I believe we plan on doing. As soon as it’s incorporated you should be able to go as far back as you like

For your last few questions, I’m tagging @enricovarano who works closely with sofi and her “brain” to improve her analytic capabilities. He knows far more about how we tease-out effect, and account for these many “complex and interacting” variables, as you say  :sparkles:

P.S I would be super curious to see what a 3D sleep mask looks like! I’m the same, and can never fall asleep with the feeling of a typical facemask.
