Update re: replacement batteries for your sofi stick

We are thrilled to see S1 Pioneer Boxes finally making it into your hands!

In order for us to get an S1 build to you as quickly as possible we had to make decisions to accelerate the functionality of the sofi stick and one of these is that in the first two generations of the sofi stick we are using watch batteries to power the unit. The units you have in your hand will run out of power within a week and having Pioneers with replacement batteries on hand is going to be key!

We would have loved nothing more than to ship these to you as part of your S1 Pioneer boxes, but, unfortunately, shipping laws strictly prevent sending loose batteries via the mail.

As a result, we are attaching the link to some replacement batteries below (for UK pioneers but equivalent will exist in every market we have shipped our S1 units), and we are very happy to reimburse Pioneers for the cost.

We plan to switch to rechargeable Lithium cell batteries in the near future, so this issue won’t arise again. We are building a USB C charging port which will come to effect in the third build of the sofi sticks and this will eliminate the need for batteries and potentially poppable tops (see below)!

But for the moment we can only express our gratitude for your participation in the process!

Instructions for replacing the batteries in your sofi stick once they die (~10 days):

1. remove the cap on your sofi stick

2. remove the circuit board / sofi electronic brain

3. using a pencil or pen, push the battery out of the open side

4. slide in the new battery, making sure the ‘+’ is facing up

5. replace the circuit board and the stick cap, and check for green light upon next spray

See below for a visual step-by-step and please get in touch should there be any issues along the way.
